Stephen Wright

Kent County Region Field Director

Stephen joined the team in 2017 as a Team Lead working to establish the company’s presence in Kent County, MI.

Prior to the founding of Genesis, Stephen had the pleasure of working with Paul Gallagher and Robert Wright serving people with disabilities in Oakland County through a different organization. Stephen has worked for organizations teaching people with intellectual and cognitive disabilities life skills. Stephen also worked providing care to elders and people in memory care. He specialized in teaching cooking skills, public speaking and Socratic reasoning.

As the Field Director, Stephen is responsible for leading the Kent County team in Genesis’ mission of excellent service. Specifically, he coordinates schedules, hires personnel, and provides vision, guidance and support to employees and individuals served in the region.

Stephen has six years of experience implementing the principles of gentle teaching in various work environments.

He attended Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI and will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in theater (performance emphasis), philosophy and political science.

Outside of Genesis Stephen has served on the staff of American Model United Nations, a conference that involves over a thousand college age students in a simulation of the United Nations. He has contributed to its blog and Issues at AMUN publication. In 2017 Stephen participated in the Civic Tech Leadership Program, implemented by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and made possible by Stanford University’s Center on Democracy, Development and Rule of Law, The Stevens’ Initiative, The United States State Department, and Bezos Family Foundation. As part of this program, Stephen participated in an in-person study mission focused on the relationship between technology, entrepreneurship and government in San Francisco and Washington DC., alongside peers from across the United States, and Middle East North Africa (MENA) region. As a theater and film artist, he has acted in over 50 plays, including professional Shakespeare productions with the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, founded the 1yr theater company (producing four original plays in one year), co-founded The Curious Arrow Theatre Company, produced two ten minute play festivals by local and national playwrights, and written, directed and produced several productions and concert readings.
